A word to our clients about pricing... Although this app is free, it has in-app purchases that allow you to make searches. Doing so is not "cheap" but it certainly is cheaper, better and more convenient than web-based solutions. But keep in mind something, we do not get all the money. 30% is taken off the top by Apple which is fair and we have no problem with. Additionally, we have to pay NC for the data each and every time someone uses our app, which in turn answers a question we have been asked, "why not gives us one free search?" It would be free to you but we would lose money. Finally, we have to pay for the infrastructure to support this app, i.e. servers. The price of a search is built-in to cover that just like a restaurant does with its meal pricing to cover overhead. Once thing that is not covered, however, is our salaries because we do not get any. We are mom & pop. We dont take a salary.
For transparency, lets walk through the numbers as an example:
1 Search = $13.99 - (30% Apple cut) = $9.79 - (payment to NC) - (server hosting) = (A LOT less than $9.79...)
We value our clients and if we could make these searches cheaper we would. Occasionally we may run a sale where we just break even. But Public Record took a year to develop and has ongoing expenses for us. We trust you understand and thank you for your support.
Public Record is the FIRST and ONLY mobile app that allows you to search the Criminal, Infractions and Civil data of the North Carolina Administrative Office of the Courts from the convenience of your iOS device! Not only that but it does so in real-time, displaying results as they would appear if you were at a computer terminal in a North Carolina county courthouse.
With Public Record there is no hassle. No driving to the county courthouse, looking and paying for parking, standing in line to use a complex, "green-screen" software application that you then print results from, for a fee if at all. With its modern interface and intuitive design, Public Record makes finding the data you are looking for quick and painless. With a "flick and a tap" you can search any of North Carolinas 100 counties by citation/infraction/case number or do a statewide name search just by changing a few simple things. And because timeliness of data is important, we do things differently. Unlike other, non-mobile vendors, we dont have a 24 hour data delay. If it is publicly available, Public Record can show it.
